Jezinky are the ‘wild forest women’ of Czech folklore. They seduce anyone that comes near them and draw them into the forest to get lost with them for eternity. They can be perceived as malevolent beings and are often described as young and beautiful. Also referred to as ‘Slavic Deities’ or ‘Divoženky’ (literally ‘wild women’). They are the sirens of the forest, able to put people to sleep, they like to gouge out their eyes and kidnap children to feed on. Beware near the forests of the Czech lands.
